Mongolian University Students and the Internet
In 1990, Mongolians didn’t use the internet for their life. At that time all things were limited for students. They also took useful information and other things from libraries and the media. They didn’t know what the internet is. And today almost all people use the internet not first students. The internet has become one at the necessities of life. So we have to use it for our life and work. Surveys show that Asia uses the internet relatively more than other continents. Especially in China, Japan, India, South Korea and Indonesia, which are in the first five for internet use. As of 2009, 42.2% of internet users were Asian and the remaining 57.8% were form the rest of the world. This indicates that all around the world the internet is being used in daily lives. For Mongolian students, the internet is a necessity. “Mongolian students want to take fresh information. Thus they use the internet and they spend their spare time for chatting, searching information and playing games” said Lkhagvasuren, a student of OTIS. It is true that for modern people the internet is their connection to family and friends who are living abroad, the way they communicate, talk and chat with other people on the planet. The number of internet users is increasing from day to day. Side by side with this, many web sites have appeared. For example: www.google.com, www.yahoo.com, and www.youtube.com. These sites have special information and other things. Mongolian students have the ability to use it. They can search for what they want. They usually use Google more than other sites. “It is easy to use it and information is relatively accurate and well-founded. May be Google is the best web site for all students” said Azjargal, a student of OTIS. Many people agree. Today people use the internet wherever they go. In order to not get technological backwardness, we have to use it like food. The internet is our lifeline to the world.
